Holsworthy: Ian Parker

"I have been happily married to my wife Helen for thirty-one years, and we have lived and worked in Holsworthy for our entire marriage, putting down strong roots in our local community. We have four grown up sons and several local businesses run by the family.

I run the Commercial Insurance arm of Swinton Insurances in Bodmin Street, which was previously ‘Holsworthy Insurance Services’, a business Helen and I started in 1989. Our family also owns and runs ‘Food on the Go’, the Café and food take away shop on the High street. We also run Parkers Cars, a private taxi and wedding car hire business. My wife Helen is a Local Community Nursing Sister based in Holsworthy.

We now have 4 generations of our family living in Holsworthy - yes, we have just become grandparents! All of our children went to Clawton Primary School, where I was member of the PTFA and the Chairman of Governors, and went on to attend Holsworthy Community college, where I was also active in the PFTA.

I am a member of the Holsworthy Rotary Club, was President of the Club in 2008, and have been directly involved in fundraising for local charities for over fourteen years - notably the 2 night ‘Rotary Musical Extravaganza’ held in Holsworthy Theatre since 2003, which has raised over £30,000 for charity."
